Finn Harps wing wizard Gary Merritt hasn’t given up his dream of becoming a professional footballer with a cross-channel club. The 19-year-old, who last week put pen to paper over a deal that will see him remain with Harps for the next two seasons, is looking to follow in the footsteps of Seamus Coleman and James McClean by making a name for himself playing in the Airtricity League in the hope of one day attracting sufficient interest from across the pond.
