Harps U19s In Good Position Following Impressive Win

Finn Harps 3 – 0 Dundalk
Goals from Hugh McFadden, Jordan Duffy and Ryan Lonergan were enough to secure a valuable 3 points to Wizards McGowans side and stretch their lead to an impressive 5 points at the summit of the table. In a first half void of clear cut chances, Harps thought they had taken the lead when a beautiful free kick from Cathal McDaid was ruled out as the referee deemed the free to be “indirect”.
The second half began in a much more lively manner and on 46 minutes a Gary Merritt corner eventually found Hugh McFadden free and the big Killybegs man powered in his second goal of the campaign.
On 60 minutes Harps doubled their lead, the impressive Shane mcGinty playing a wonderful through ball to Jordy Duffy and he produced a fabulous finish to the bottom corner.
3 minutes later the move of the match resulted in a third for the hosts. Duffy playing the ball to McGinty who quickly looked up to see the run of midfielder Ryan Lonergan and he duly dispatched with a cool right footed pass into the bottom corner.
Dundalk had a few half chances but overall the hosts were good value for the 3 points on a poor playing surface which didn’t really suit either side.
Speaking afterwards Manager McGowan stated “we’ve come away with a good 3 points here today but we’ve nothing yet, as far as Im concerned we have 3 games left and our focus now falls to a tough away game against Fanad. I’ll be stressing to the players, it’s just another game and one that we will need to work hard for as Fanad are a good side.”
