The fantastic success achieved yesterday by the Finn Harps U17s who claimed the National League title with a 3-0 win over Shamrock Roves at Maginn Park was an especially proud occasion for all involved with the club at both underage and senior level. Finn Harps Football Club’s Board of Directors has congratulated manager Declan Boyle, the backroom team and the playing squad on their second historic achievement of 2018. Back in September the Harps U17s became the first team ever from the club to win an underage national title when landing the Mark Farren Memorial Cup. And the second piece of history was made yesterday when Declan Boyle’s team did the double. Again the first underage side from the club to accomplish such a feat on the national stage.
“The Board of Directors at Finn Harps Football Club wish to congratulate manager Declan and the U17 squad on winning yesterday’s national final at Maginn Park in Buncrana. It was a great performance from the boys against Shamrock Rovers. They showed fantastic team spirit and played some splendid football. And capped it off with three super goals. It’s a fantastic and historic achievement for this U17 side to do a national double like this. Declan’s backroom team also deserve special mention for their work with this squad. These two trophies are the culmination of journey that started 11 months ago when the players started training for the new season. We would also like most sincerely to thank these young players for their dedication and hopefully now they will move onto the next phase of their footballing careers with the ultimate aim of making it into the Finn Harps senior squad. Finally, the Board of Directors want to acknowledge the commitment of the players families in getting them to training and matches since last November.”
