Cabinteely 0-1 Finn Harps
Just like earlier in the season one goal did it for Finn Harps for a second time against Cabinteely last night. At Finn Park back in April it was a late goal from central defender Sam Todd. This time it was his partner at the heart of the defence Keith Cowan who grabbed a 70th winner against the Dublin outfit at Stradbrook.
The result keeps Harps fifth in the table as Longford Town, Shelbourne and Drogheda Utd all won. UCD remain top despite shipping a heavy 5-1 defeat at home to Longford. Horgan’s men are a point behind Longford and three adrift of both Shelbourne and Drogheda. Leaders UCD have a four-point advantage at the summit.
Cabinteely had the better of the first half but failed to test visiting keeper Ciaran Gallagher. The hosts did come close with one effort from Keith Dalton. Harps had the edge in the second half and broke the deadlock when vice-captain Cowan headed home the all important goal from a Mark Timlin corner in the 70th minute
Horgan now turns his attention to another massive match away to second placed Drogheda next Friday night.
