All three Finn Harps underage sides are in action this weekend with the U19s out tomorrow (Saturday) while the 17s and 15s are both in action on Sunday. The 19s host Dundalk at Finn Park (kick-off 2.00) and will be bidding to keep their place at the top of the Northern Elite Division table. Harps and St. Patrick’s Athletic are joint top on 17 points from seven games.
Dundalk are fourth in the table and five points behind Joe Boyle’s side. The 19s had to settle for a draw at the Brandywell last Saturday after conceding a late equalizer after having led 2-1. So this is a crucial match for the hosts as St. Pat’s will be expected to win against struggling Longford Town.
On Sunday the Harps U17s travel to Oriel Park to take on Dundalk (kick-off 2.00). Declan Boyle’s side really need to get at least a draw from this trip as they currently sit sixth in the table and eight points behind runaway leaders Bohemians. The 17s scored a dramatic 2-1 win over Northwest neighbours Derry City last Saturday at Finn Park thanks to a brace of late goals from skipper Darragh Ellison. Going into Sunday’s game Dundalk are seventh in the table with Harps only above them by virtue of superior goal difference.
Meanwhile, the Finn Harps U15s also travel to Co. Louth on Sunday to play Drogheda at United Park (kick-off 2.00). Kevin McHugh’s boys lead the Group 1 table on 16 points from six games. Drogheda are fourth in the table and three points behind Harps. Their nearest rivals St. Pat’s are two points adrift would be expected to get the better of Monaghan who are second from bottom of the table. Harps had a super 2-0 win over Bohemians last Saturday down in Gweedore. The two teams had been joint second in the table going into that game at An Screaban.
