The Harps U17s will look to advance to the semi finals of the National U17 league with a victory over Cork City at Finn Park on Saturday (Kick Off 2pm).  Declan Boyle’s young Harps finished second in the league stage, earning a home tie in the quarter finals.

Speaking ahead of the game, Boyle said, “Overall very happy with our current form, out of our last three league fixtures, we won 2 and drew one, when the pressure was on and we knew we had to win the last two games to finish second in the league and we went out and won those two fixtures. It was been a successful season to date, our aim at the start of the league was to finish at least second in the Northern League. We have achieved this, now are aim is to take one game at a time and beat Cork City on Saturday and get to the semi final. Cork are a good team and it will take a massive performance by all players on the day to take us over the line, but we are well capable of beating them and delivering that performance.”

“At the moment, the only injury that we have is Jack O Donnell, who has ankle injury but it is hoped that he will be back training in the next few weeks.  Darragh Ellison was out for 4 weeks but was back training last week and should be fine for the weekend.”, Boyle said.

“Cork City come into the game in good form, out of the last five matches, they have won 4 and lost one and have scored a lot of goals and conceded very few goals, we know, that they are a good team and they will be difficult to beat. When you get to this stage of the competition, there are no bad teams, so it’s about performing on the day, having a bit of luck, defending well and converting your chances when they come.”

Boyle asked Harps fans for their support in the quarter final saying, “The match is on this Saturday 14th October in Finn Harps at 2.00pm and we ask all Finn Harps supporters to come out and support the team and the young Finn Harps players of the future.”
