Having gone to the top of the table last week with a win over Longford Town, the Harps U15s will be looking to notch another home win when they take on Monaghan United Cavan FP in Gweedore this Saturday. Despite their good form, Kevin McHugh is still looking for improvement from his side in this game which is sponsored by Pod Trak Ltd. “It was great to keep our unbeaten run going, but as talked about afterwards in the changing room and at training last night, we need to improve our ball retention.”
At national league level you just can’t keep giving away possession cheaply. So that’s something we will be working on over the coming days and weeks. We started very well and scored few good goals, with Luke getting 2 more and that’s now 12 goals in 8 games for him, which is an incredible return at any level. Longford were the better side for 20 mins after half-time and scored a deserved goal, we hung in and finished strong with Daniel Gildea taking his tally to 4 goals in 5 games.”
Looking forward to this weekend, McHugh noted that they’d be facing a tough opposition, “This weekend we take on an improving Cavan Monaghan FP team, who have travelled away to Sligo and got a point and then drew with Derry last weekend. We know there is no easy games at National League level and will be preparing as best we can to finish the season strong.
The game is in Gweedore Celtic’s pitch this Saturday with a 2pm Kick Off and it’s great to be able to take a national league game outside of the Finn Valley area, as we have boys in the squad from all over the county, it’s maybe something we will look at doing more of next season”.
