Finn Harps face another huge match tonight in Ballybofey (kick-off 8.00) but this time it’s not precious Premier Division League points that are at stake. Instead the prize is progress to the second round of the prestigious FAI Senior Cup competition. Bohemians provide the opposition for Ollie Horgan’s side and it could be a long night at Finn Park with extra-time and penalties on standby to decide the outcome if necessary. “There’s no replays in first round games anymore so it could very well go beyond the 90 minutes tonight. Obviously, I would hope that we can a win in normal time because we also want our players to be as fresh as possible for the next league games against St. Pat’s and Cork which are only three days apart” Horgan said.
So the Bohs cup clash has all ingredients of being a very intriguing game with the visitors coming to Ballybofey seeking revenge for the 2-1 league defeat there last month. With players out and injury doubts Horgan will be forced into personnel changes for this game. “We’ll see how things are when we meet this evening but we’ll certainly be looking at least a couple of changes. It will be an opportunity for other players to get game time and stake a claim for more regular football in the starting team. It’s a ‘winner takes all game’ so it’s important again that football supporters around the county come out and get behind us at Finn Park tonight” Horgan said.
