The long wait is over . . . has it really been that long though?? But, it’s Fantasy Football time again and with the fixtures already released, the clubs are busy getting their squads together and the players are slowly getting back to their club’s for pre-season training. That tells us that the big kick-off of the English Premier League is not far away.

It all gets underway on Friday 11th August while it also means the start of our fourth FHFC Fantasy Football competition is just around the corner.

Owen Gilligan is our reigning Champion – taking over from Mark McGettigan who won the competition in 2015/16 and Michael Dineen who won each of our first two Leagues – so the battle is on to see if Owen can retain his title or can someone knock him off his perch. By winning the competition, Owen picked up for himself €1050. A nice days work!! There were six prizes in the league in total, along with ten monthly prize winners and a Cup competition, with over €2,600 in prizes – so as you can see, the FHFC Fantasy League is rightly considered one of the best Fantasy Leagues in the country. On top of that, there are a few extra prizes at Christmas with vouchers, season tickets, etc on offer.

Just like last year, cost of entering is €20, with 50% of this going to Finn Harps Football Club and the other half going to the prize fund. With the numbers increasing last year on the previous year, it’s hoped that this year the prize fund will to close to €3,000 this season. Prizes will be awarded for at least the top five place finishes in the League and also for the winner of our Cup competition. In addition, ten monthly prizes will also be on offer, so there’s loads of chances to win. Of course, there will also be a prize awarded at Christmas like in each of the last three years.
