SHAY GIVEN BACKS HARPS  “REVIVE AND THRIVE CAMPAIGN”

March 10, 2010

Ireland Goalkeeper Shay Given, who recently won his 103 rd Cap for his Country against Brazil, has appealed for the sporting public in the Northwest to get behind the new campaign to secure the future of Finn Harps.  The Donegal man has made the plea ahead of Harps first home Game against Salthill Devon which takes place on Friday, kick-off 8pm at Finn Park.

The match will be the first designated “revive and thrive” game of the season, a campaign by the Board to attract supporters back through the turnstiles.  The promotion will mean that an Adult Terrace Ticket will cost only €10 and price includes admission for an u-12 child.

Lifford man Given feels its important that the Public back the new initiative and support their local senior club.  "I would appeal to the North West Public to support the Finn Harps "Revive and Thrive Campaign" and help secure the future of Senior Football in Donegal.

“I am really pleased that the current Harps squad consists entirely of local players from both Donegal and Tyrone - and its good to hear that the Club is committed to developing local talent.

“I understand that Donegal teams are achieving great success at underage level so its important that Harps continue to offer these lads the opportunity to play on the national stage.”

The Former Lifford Celtic and St Columbas College player feels that  while Harps longer  term strategy will take time, it will mean an exciting future for the club.

“The young players coming through will require a little patience from everybody but with a new stadium on the way it gives everybody in the County a great incentive to work towards.

It may be a difficult time but if everybody can work together to secure the future of the Club then we all have something to look forward too.

I wish the Players, Management & Supportters of Finn Harps all the best for the Season,” he concluded.
