LEGENDS BACK HARPS “REVIVE AND THRIVE CAMPAIGN”

January 2010

Harps Legends Jim Sheridan and Brendan Bradley have urged the public to support the Club's campaign to ensure that Senior Football has a bright future in Donegal.

“Gentleman Jim”, the Rathmullan man who lifted the Cup in ‘74 doesn't hide his passion for the Club.

“This Club may have gone through difficult times but don't forget we had many good ones as well. People will always remember the Cup victory but we also played in Europe on four occasions and had many great nights.”

“Negative people will say that is in the past but there is no reason it can't happen in the future. The County is full of great young talent. I am glad that Harps are concentrating on giving young players their chance to develop. It takes patience but it will be worth it in the end because as these lads get more experience they have the potential to give the County something to be proud of”

Brendan Bradley, goal machine and scorer of a record 181 goals, feels that if people can work together Harps can have a very bright future.

“This is a great club and one I will always have fond memories of playing for.

I understand there is a big effort underway to put the Club on a sound footing

and build for the future. I hope the Public support this because in my day we used to play in front of big crowds and there was a great buzz in the County.

Bradley, the Man who once scored six goals in one game against Sligo, has words of encouragement for Harps' young players.

“I still enjoy going to Finn Park to watch the games and there is definitely some players there with a lot of potential. Perhaps they need a couple of more experienced heads beside them but if they keep working hard they can have a very bright future.”

“Players, particularly young players, need the Crowd to encourage them so I hope everyone gets out and supports the new Finn Harps.”
