Finn Harps have been informed by the League that their Eircom League fixture with Drogheda United in Finn Park on Saturday the 26 th of July has been postponed to a later date due to Drogheda Untied's involvement in European Competition.
Finn Harps Football Club are extremely unhappy with the fact that the fixture has been postponed and with the way the matter was handled.
• Finn Harps had agreed to change this fixture from Friday the 25 th to Saturday 26 th at the request of the league originally. Finn Harps were quite happy to do this to facilitate our colleagues in Drogheda.
• The short notice of the cancellation impacts on Finn Harps from a financial point of view through to team preparation not to mention sponsors and our very loyal fans.
• Team training had been targeted at a Saturday fixture and the short notice of cancellation means that no replacement friendly match can be arranged. This means that in the middle of this important period Finn Harps will have no match for two weeks.
Finn Harps Football Club have worked on this matter since receiving the directive from the League and contact is ongoing with the League. The board of Finn Harps are extremely unhappy that at no stage was there any consultation with Finn Harps on the matter and we are doing our utmost to protect the interests of the club.
